Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid When Moving House

Moving to your new home can be what you’ve thought and dreamed about for years. You may be moving to an avenue you’ve always wanted to live in, or perhaps a house with a garden big enough for your ambitions. It’s one of life’s special events.

Needless to say, however, moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do. If everything goes right, you’ll be exhausted but happy. If something goes wrong, on the other hand, it can get your adventure at the new house off to the wrong start. Our job is to make things perfect for you.

At Grants Removals we have many years of experience at making the process as painless and enjoyable as possible. Over time we’ve helped hundreds of families with their moves and noticed a lot of the mistakes they tend to make. We don’t want you to make the same mistakes, so here is the first of our ten very important pointers on what we hope you won’t be doing on the big day!

Mistake 9 – You Do Things At The Last Minute

This applies to the day itself, as well as the weeks leading up to your house move.

None of the Ten Mistakes in this list are complicated or difficult. They can all be avoided by not procrastinating and simply making a start.

One example of this is your utility suppliers. You should, of course, give them plenty of notice that you’re moving house, but don’t forget that moving house is an opportunity for you to find better tariffs for your gas, electricity, Internet and cable TV by checking what’s available on the Internet. It’s always worth giving www.moneysavingexpert.com a look when you’re searching for good deals.

When you use Grants Removals for your house move, please be aware that we do not transport valuable items, such as jewellery, cash and passports. With that in mind, please note down where you have your valuables and prepare to move them at the appropriate time, rather than trying to find them at the last minute.

When you book us, try to do it with as much notice as you can, so that we’ll be free for whatever date you have in mind. If you can manage it, it would be best if you could choose off-peak times such as mid week and avoid Fridays and the end of the month (the most popular times, when we’re more likely to be booked well in advance).

Mistake 8

Del Says…

“Grants Removals will always try to fit you in and we can often react at very short notice to help with house moves. But it goes without saying that the more notice you can give us, the better it’ll be. You’ll have a much greater choice of dates and times and more time to plan.”
